RED ROOTS GRAPHIC WORKSHOP Do you want to learn to use Adobe Photoshop, but don't know where to start? This fall, the Red Roots Center, in partnership with Can't Afford 'Em Buttons (http://www.caebuttons.com), is offering a workshop on all things Photoshop! Learn skills to snazzify your publicity materials, web graphics or digital artwork! This two-day class will include: - Introduction to the Photoshop work area and tool sets - Working with layers and masks - Retouching images and fixing photographs - Using color controls, levels and histograms - Combining different file formats and managing multiple canvasses - Text / font focus and layer styles - Copying, merging and screen-grabbing - Saving and exporting for web use - DPI and print standards The Red Roots Graphic Workshop will take place at the Can't Afford 'Em Buttons space in the South Bronx, September 20th-21st, from 1pm--5pm each day. Can't Afford 'Em is located just a 5 minute walk from the 138th st. stop on the 4/5 or 6, about 20 minutes from Union Square on an express train. The first day of the Red Roots Graphic Workshop will focus on beginner-level skills, and the second will explore Photoshop at an intermediate level. The workshop costs $180--$220 sliding scale, with the option of paying $115 for just one day of instruction at either level. Please note in your email whether you intend to register for the full workshop or a one-day slot. The workshop will be conducted by Eric Phillips-Horst, an NYC-based filmmaker / graphic designer and co-founder of the Meerkat Media Arts Collective (http://www.meerkatmedia.org). Eric has completed over 20 films to date and has been teaching Photoshop professionally since 2006. The Red Roots Center requires a $50 deposit to participate in the Graphic Workshop.
