Sunflower Children supports disadvantaged children throughout the world. The foundation was started by Miss Czech Republic and fashion model Helena Houdova.
Through her travels, Helena witnessed the effects of poverty on disadvantaged children. In the industry in which she was working, Helena was able to bring together a network of people who were willing to help but did not have the means to do so or were unsure of how to make a difference. Helena created Sunflower as a way to bring these two worlds together: to connect caring people with resources to the children around the world who so desperately need their care.
Sunflower projects focus on providing survival and development support for:
Orphans
Children with disabilities (physical and mental)
Street Children
Refugees
Children living in poverty (malnutrition, neglect, etc.)
Sunflower Children is headquartered in New York City and supports projects in South Africa, Cambodia, India, Nepal, Philippines, Brazi, Colombia, Nicaragua.
We operate through a worldwide network of virtual volunteers and are funded by private benefactors whose generosity enables 100% of public donations to directly benefit a Sunflower child.
Who we are looking for:
Sunflower operates virtually rather than as a traditional bricks and mortar charity. Our website is central to our mission. By volunteering for Sunflower as a techinical web administrator you will be an integral part of this mission for Sunflower teams around the world.
We are looking for technical web designers possessing the following skills:
PHP, HTML, Flash, server administration for Linux, proficiency in Drupal.
It would be great if familiar with programming CMS templates (Drupal preferred)
The level of responsibility will really depend on how involved you want to be. Any amount of time you can give us will be helping our cause! We are a qualified 501c3 organization that can provide college/CEU credit for volunteers. All volunteering is primarily virtual with lots of opportunities for benefits and other social events.
