We respectfully seek persons from the ages of 25 to 65 who have lost a spouse within the last 1 ½ to 3 years for a study of bereavement funded by the National Institutes of Health.

Our project staff has been conducting research on bereavement for over 15 years. We have learned that although different people grieve in different ways, some people have great difficulty adjusting to life without their spouse. This reaction to loss can be extremely debilitating and yet little is known about it. In this study, we are trying to learn more about this type of grief reaction. Our hope is that a better understanding will lead to more effective treatments.

The study involves questionnaires, interviews, and computer tasks that do not require prior experience. We are particularly interested in the personal experience of loss. The study involves two separate visits to our offices at Teachers College, Columbia University. All collected information will remain strictly confidential.

Eligible participants will be paid $200 for their participation.

Please contact our project staff at midlifelab@tc.edu or call us at (212) 678-3817.
