Women of Color Writers' Workshop Seeks an Assistant
We are seeking a volunteer to assist the Women of Color Writers' Workshop facilitator and current assistant. They will help with recruitment of participants, help set up and manage a website for women writers, assist in reviewing writing submissions, and help put together a year end chapbook of women of color writers.
The Volunteer will be able to attend all workshops in exchange for their volunteer time. They will learn how to work in a creative writer's setting designed specifically for women of color.
The Women of Color Writers Workshop is going into its 11th year as an affiliate of the Amherst Writers as Artist and the New York Writers' Coalition. Please visit face book and search "Women of Color Writers' Workshop" for more information and links.
Requirements:
**Must be amiable, reliable and committed to writing
** Should be serious about and enjoy writing in any personally preferred genre - beginners are welcome
**Have good writing and editing skills
**Must be detail oriented and have good organizational and computer skills
**Be able to commit to at lest 6 months with a minimum 8-12 hours a month input. Hours are flexible
**Able to attend Women of Color Writers' Workshop session on Friday evenings from 6:15 - 8:30 in four week cycles
**Be able to keep computer records of workshop participants and work with Facilitator and other assistant
**Be willing to assist with volunteer recruitment for readers, and setting up of online publisher's screening for women writers.
**Being in the process of or having published is a plus
